Kelowna is nestled in "The Sunny Okanagan"
Kelowna is the largest city in the Okanagan area boasting a population
of approximately 100,400 residents. Attractive to tourists and residents
alike the city offers the typical amenities you would expect from
a large city,
while still retaining that small city sense of community. Recreational
activities match the diverse seasonal conditions with the natural
beauty of the land. Okanagan Lake spans 145 kms in length while
Big White Ski
Resort looms off in the distance. Golf
courses are sprinkled across the area and wilderness regions
wait to be explored.
Over a dozen wineries join the list of the many 13,000 companies
that form the economic backbone of the community. Kelowna is also
recognized as a hi-tech hub, earning it the nickname The Silicon
Vineyard.
Kelowna offers numerous schooling options ranging from School District
#23 to a variety of private schools. Okanagan
University College offers degree, diploma, and certificate programs
in the Arts, Sciences, Education, Fine Arts, Social Work, Nursing,
and Business Administration. A number of private colleges add to
the diverse post secondary options.
Kelowna’s climate is perhaps one of its most celebrated features,
appreciated by people of all ages. The area receives an estimated
2,000 hours of glorious sunshine and just over 28 centimetres of
rain on an annual basis. Despite the desert climate, Kelowna orchards
produce a wonderfully delicious bounty of apricots, cherries, peaches,
pears, plums, and apples.
